Family Advent Devotion #2

I have intentionally slowed down our family's schedule during this season for the last few years. On a typical Saturday in December you will find us spending the day at home because that is our favorite place to be. We want to focus on the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate that together. However, sometime soon we will venture out for our annual visit to see Santa Claus & catch a movie together.

Our third week is Love focused.
Scripture: Luke 1:67-79 And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us; to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant, the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."
Carol: "Away in a Manger"

First Dallon lights the Hope candle.

Then Roman lights the Peace candle.

Then Rocco lights the Love candle.

Dallon read our scripture.
Rocco was cozy.
I loved this shot of Rocco blowing out his candle. Oh & Roman was so concerned about Nick putting his hand behind the flame. He said, "Oh no, Daddy! Don't do that! It's OK, it's OK! Don't do that!" He is so thoughtful.
*Just incase you noticed the TV trays & table we're using for our entertainment center, we're currently shopping for some new living room furniture. We have the couch & chair taken care of but are in the market for a dark wood tall entertainment table, side stands & end tables. If you see a deal call me!!
